Based in East London, Abir is a Comedy-Drama and Drama Writer that likes to write about the specific experiences surrounding the queer, brown, Muslim and working class communities within this area. His writing places unconventional characters at the forefront of stories whilst shining a light on topics that are either taboo or underrepresented, such as toxic and positive masculinity, queerness within religion, and more, whilst being able to simultaneously tell truthful stories in a light-hearted and hard-hitting tone. He has a well-rounded knowledge of the film, theatre and television industries, and an ability to portray unique and specific stories with a universal appeal.
Abir was a part of the Soho Theatre Writers' Lab 2023 - 2024 cohort, in which he'd written his first full-length play, 'BHAIJAAN'., which explore toxic masculinity within the South Asian and Muslim communities. The play first debuted at the Hope Theatre in 2025 and sold out on both nights. It received rave reviews and was described as a "gritty and compelling story" that was "deeply heartbreaking and essential." It was also shortlisted for Soho Theatre's 2024 Tony Craze Award.

His Pilot script 'MILQUETOAST' (previously titled 'Chosen Family') was nominated for the All3Media New Script Award at the 2022 New Voice Awards ceremony, making the top 10 shortlist, as well as making the top 10% in the BBC Drama Script Room 2023 and the top 22% at the Outfest Screenwriting Lab 2022.

He has also spent a few years working in the Development department for the likes of STV Studios, where he worked as a Drama Development Trainee on various upcoming dramas. Following this, having cast his own projects, in late 2022 Abir became a Casting Assistant and has assisted the likes of Vicki Thomson and the BBC Studios casting department.
